For your presentation you should teach me about your paper. Be clear and make sure you are highlighting the important aspects of your paper.
There is no length requirement for the video presentation, but good presentations will be around 5 to 7 minutes. A good powerpoint will be around 10 – 15 slides that fully define and explain all terminology. Links included in your powerpoint are also helpful! If you choose to do a video format do a prepared lecture where you teach me about your topic. In your video you should highlight all the important aspects you included in your paper.

Directions:
Students will research the background of the group selected with particular attention to the following questions’
1. How did your group become a part of American society?
2. How well is it integrated today?
3. If your group is a voluntary immigrant group, why did they come to the US?
4. If your group is an involuntary immigrant group or an indigenous group, how did your group react to how the larger society acted on it?
5. How equitably has your group been treated during its tenure in the US?
6. What is the current status (socioeconomic, political, educational, social) of your group in the U.S. today?
7. What difficulties has your group faced and why?
8. How did your group attempt to overcome any difficulties faced?
9. To what degree do persons from your group feel a connection to people from a similar culture/language background in other parts of the world? Why?
10. Please describe (you can use photos) the religion of the ethnic group before they came to the U.S., and after their arrival to their American point of destination.
Description of Critical Research Paper
Your paper will be composed of sections that are outlined below:
Cover Page
Includes title, your name, course, section number and date.
Prior Knowledge ( ½ to 1 page, 10 points)
In this section you will give a brief overview of a) how much prior knowledge you had about this group b) any conclusions you had reached about this group based on this prior knowledge.
Narrative and Analysis (5 – 7 pages 150 points)
In this section of the paper, you will describe briefly the role of your group in U.S. society and analyze all 9 questions posed above and any other critical questions you wish to include. Please cite your readings in this section where applicable. Please note that 50 of the 150 points in this section will be awarded on the basis of grammar, spelling and punctuation. A minimally acceptable standard for a properly proof-read paper is no more that one mistake per page.
Educational Equity Today (1 page, 20 points)
1. How does this group stand in terms of receiving equal educational opportunities today
at the elementary, secondary and tertiary (higher education) levels?
2. If satisfactory educational equity has NOT been achieved, what needs to be done?
3. If satisfactory educational equity HAS been achieved, when/how did this happen?
Annotated bibliography (1-2 pages, 40 points)
The paper’s bibliography must be dome according to the style manual of the American Psychological Association. Please consult an APA style manual. It must include a minimum of 8 sources that meet the following criteria:
1. Include 3 academic journal sources. These must be refereed academic journals.
2. No more than 2 internet sources.
3. Exclude course texts and encyclopedias.
4. At least 5 sources must have a 2000 or later copyright.
5. Each of the sources must be annotated.
