Assignment 4

This assignment will focus on criminogenic media. While there are all types of criminogenic media, for this assignment I want you to focus on radio, a medium that has changed greatly over time, but still remains popular today (e.g., Spotify). Also, for this assignment, I want you to find a radio drama about a crime or criminal. It should be one of those stories that is “based on a true story” (regardless of how accurate it is).
For this assignment, you will select a radio dramatization, providing the link to the actual show. Explain the radio show and the episode you listened to. Provide a reaction to what you learned and then – and this is most important – tie the radio dramatization back to what you learned in chapter 4. 2. Situational crime prevention typically has some type of push-back or controversy revolving around it.  Most commonly, the controversy is related to privacy issues or infringements on individual rights (think of government surveillance cameras in crime areas or areas that have strict gun control laws).  Considering this, does situational crime prevention affect how people act that are affected by the situation crime prevention strategy – for example, is there less gun violence in a strict gun control area or do people act differently that are being surveilled?  Do people complain or even protest about strict gun control laws in their area or about their privacy being invaded by surveillance cameras?
