In this week’s readings bell hooks discusses what “visionary feminism” looks like (103). She also discusses her own coming of age in the 1970’s and how loving bonds can create a world that is different than what we thought might be inevitable. She emphasizes the basic “fundamental and necessary truth: there can be no love when there is domination” (103).
PROMPT
Respond to the central thesis of positive change that the author is addressing this week:
Do you agree with this idea? Or not?
Are we on the brink of creating a more equitable environment for all people? What would make it possible?
Explain your response and be sure to quote hooks.
As always respond to a classmate.

Argue a thesis supported by credible, peer reviewed academic sources. The goal of this paper is to convince, not just inform, your reader of a point you are trying to make. The essay should have a clearly recognizable thesis in the form of an argument that a reasonable reader could disagree with.
The main point of the essay should be that toxic masculinity effects young boys in a bad way, and sets a bad example.
I will attach helpful articles to consider. Here is a helpful link: https://wibwire.wordpress.com/2019/05/26/rites-of-passage-on-the-modern-male-experience/

My interest in learning has driven me to
participate in several activities, both academic and non-academic. When Covid shut schools down I did not let it
stop my education, I took more dual credit classes so that I would always be
contuning my education. I always yarn to
get a new skill, learn a new concept and develop a new character as I
believe that my personal growth depends on my discipline to learn new knowledge
and obtain the new skill. For this reason, I am applying for this opportunity
to further my education. I believe this will be an opportunity for me to
advance academically and make new connections and relationships that will
facilitate me in obtaining my ambitions and aims.
I’m a competent student and attained a
Texas State Merit Academic Scholarship for the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023
semesters. I was accepted into West Texas A&M University for
the Fall 2022 semester but choose to use the merit scholarship because it was
large help to my parents and me at the time. I am interactive and have participated in
various leadership and sports forums since my
freshman year. As a graduating high school senior I had 33 dual college
credits and will be taking 17 hours in the Fall of 2022 to pursue a degree in
Physical Thepory. My goal is to one day work with new born babies and parents
as they face challenges in life. I have an Aunt that does this and it is not a
job but a calling from deep with in that I want to give back. To help people recover and become a healther person.
I believe admission to Texas A&M
would enable me to achieve my aims and mold me into a responsible citizen of
positive worth to society. I am an open-minded individual. I
believe this will enable me to meet people that will facilitate the shaping of
my perspectives in various positive ways to enable me
to become a better version of myself. From my passion for leadership and sports
and my desire to do things in the perfect ways
possible, I believe Texas A&M will allow me to have a platform where I can
freely exercise my leadership skills and further my education
ambition with the requisite support. I know this because I have several cousins that are Texas A&M graduates.
I believe in the values of resilience,
patience, and discipline as the core requirements for success. Through this
notion, I have
participated in and won awards in several forums, and I’ve also been able
to lead different forums. I believe Texas A&M would allow me to advance
both in leadership, and individual levels. The college shall expose me to
diversity that I believe is healthy in giving me a dynamic mindset as I will be
able to interact with different people with different mindsets.
I believe the academic experience that I
will gain through this scholarship will be useful in training me into a
competent professional. The social interactions that I will have will give me
the socialization skills that would enable me to fit in any sector of society.
My ambition is to become a professional who may solve situational and contextual
challenges by understanding people and systems. And due to the diversity that I
will be able to interact with through becoming student at Texas A&M for
life, I believe I will develop the skill necessary to achieve this
ambition.
To become an Aggie has been a dream
since I was in the second grade. To attend
and graduate Texas A&M you are not just a student you become an Aggie. That
is a person that has a high moral value, believes in education, tradition and
hard work. Upon graduation from some colleges it mean you have earned a degree.
To graduate an Aggie means you are one for life and will live that way every
day. You will always be a mentior for younger students and will always be
willing to give back to your community. Marron is the color I bleed and will
live my life to be the best Aggie possible
