Steven Smith was employed by the Avon School District as a high school English Language Arts teacher. He posted three photos of his students’ writing on Facebook, highlighting their grammar gaffes and misspellings. He also commented on the mistakes.
Smith’s posts weren’t shared publicly on the social media site, but a customized group of his Facebook friends could see the photos. Someone who thought his posts were inappropriate for a school teacher did not contact Smith but did contact the local newspaper about the photos and comments. The school district’s central office received an anonymous tip about the teacher, his posts, and the forthcoming newspaper article.

The New Jersey Board of Nursing under the Division of Consumer Affairs is the st

The New Jersey Board of Nursing under the Division of Consumer Affairs is the statutory regulatory body for nursing and its affiliates. The board of nursing (BON) is a fifteen-member committee comprising of Licensed vocational nurses/licensed practical nurses (LVN/LPN), Registered nurses, Advanced practical nurses (APN) and Public members. BON sets the scope of practice and rules and regulations which must be consistent with the Board’s guidelines regarding nursing practice for every nurse practicing in the state of New Jersey, and must be adhered to,by nursing institutions including hospitals, care homes, colleges and universities.
The NJ Board of Nursing in collaboration with New Jersey Commission on Higher Education recognized by United States Department of Education gives access to educational institutions to award a Bachelor of science in nursing, Associate Degree of Nursing or Diploma in Nursing to schools who are eligible and prepare them to write the NCLEX, to qualify as nurses. NJ is part of the compact states, which authorizes nurses to have multi-state license  to practice in other compact states. The BON has set a limit of  two (2) years for licenses to be renewed. The standard of practice set by the BON has helped in patient care by implementing and approving educational programs to get more knowledge to Assess, Diagnose, Plan, Implement and finally Evaluate the outcome of the care rendered. The BON is all about law and public safety. So, the laid down rules and regulations by the board, keep nurses in place as to how they can include safety practices to their field of work to protect their clients as well as themselves.

The Texas Board of Nursing promotes and protects the welfare of Texans, stipulat

The Texas Board of Nursing promotes and protects the welfare of Texans, stipulating nurses be licensed and competent to practice (ATrain Education, n.d.). The board, rules, and standards guide professional nursing practice and highlight expectations for nurses to develop competencies. The board’s rules further highlight requirements for nursing education, nursing duties licensure (certification), and nursing practice. The standards are highlighted in laws and rules.
Nurses adhere to the Nursing Practice Act (NPA) rules, regulations, and guidelines, and the Texas Board of Nursing (Board) or BON ensures the health practitioners are competent. The Nursing Practice Act of Texas provides for creating the board, and there are Board investigations if there are violations of the Act. The board’s rules stipulate the minimum standards and scope of practice while licensing and regulating nurses in Texas. There are laws and rules to ensure nurses provide safe care services (BON, 2021). However, facilities adopt policies or procedures that are not overseen by the board. At the same time, there are various educational pathways for nurses to get a Texas nursing license, the board issues licenses for those who have gone through approved nursing programs.
The board provides positional statements that guide nurses on the scope of practice and patient safety, but the statements are not law. Board rule 217.11 is applicable in nursing practice on standards of nursing practice, and rule 217.12 focuses on unprofessional conduct (BON, 2021). The Nursing Practice Act (NPA) is contained in Chapter 301 of the Texas Occupations Code (TOC), while nurses are expected to be familiar with chapters 303 and 304 (NetCE, 2021). On the other hand, advanced practice registered nurses are expected to be familiar with chapter 305 on the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Compact (NetCE, 2021).

The Florida Board of Nursing ensures that nurses are competent enough to practic

The Florida Board of Nursing ensures that nurses are competent enough to practice safely. They license, discipline, educate, monitor, and rehabilitate nurses. If RN’s are unable to meet the standards set out by the state, they will lose their license and not be able to practice in the state. The Nurse Practice Act presents a foundation for safe, professional care for patients. It is designed to protect the public and “provide for established boards of nursing which have full authorization to create rules and regulations that ensure the laws are specific to the nursing profession and offer a sense of clarity” (Toney-Butler & Martin, 2021).
The rules enacted by the board need to adhere to the laws put forth by the legislature and the Nurse Practice Act. The board consists of thirteen members, seven of which must be registered nurses that reside in the State of Florida and be part of the practice for at least four years. Three members must be LPN’s that reside in the state of Florida. Three members must also be residents of Florida but have never held a nursing license and are not involved in the nursing profession (Toney-Butler & Martin, 2021). The laws put forth are important to be aware of as Registered Nurses. We must be knowledgeable in current practice standards and rules

Topic 3 DQ 1
Submit a summary of six of your articles on the discussion board. Discuss one strength and one weakness for each of these six articles on why the article may or may not provide sufficient evidence for your practice change.
To study the incidence of complications in the patient with type 1 diabetes in the United States.
Item 1
Ji et al. , (2020) analyzes the body’s ability to control glucose in older people diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and identifies their potential for developing vascular risk. Reduce complications (micro and macro). One of the strengths of this article is that it is easy to analyze and the data is accurate and reliable. The weakness of this study is that the data for a complete understanding of vascular complications are not very robust.
Article 2
This article provides an understanding of the pathophysiology of hyperglycemia in the elderly. It can be compared to type 1 by comparing the effects of type 2 diabetes on the management of hyperglycemia in the elderly (Lee & Halter, 2017). One of the strengths of this article is a better understanding of hyperglycemia in the elderly. This allows for informed comparisons. The weakness of this article is that it does not fully contribute to the topic.
Item 3
To understand the incidence of vascular complications in the elderly with type 1 diabetes, it is necessary to have a clear understanding of vascular complications. Beckman and Creager (2016) provide an excellent analysis of vascular complications that occur in diabetics. One weakness is that some of the results cannot be transferred to older generations.
Item
4 Diabetic vascular complications can be divided into microvascular complications and macrovascular complications. This article is useful for various complications between the two areas of complications. The main strength of this article is to help understand whether macrovascular and microvascular complications are separate or continuous (Chawla et al., 2016). The weakness of this article is the complexity of understanding the results.
Article 5
This article provides a better analysis of how type 1 diabetes develops. Through this article, we can understand the main physiological characteristics, beta-cell immunity, and most importantly, the development of cardiovascular disease (Khawandanah, 2019). One of the weaknesses of this study is the generalization of the results.
Article 6
This study relates to older people with type 1 diabetes and at the same time compares vascular complications that occur in adolescents with type 1 diabetes. According to Graves & Donaghue (2020), some of the complications found in older people are the result of complications that began at a young age. One of the weaknesses of this article is that it doesn’t deal directly with the topic.
