Choose ONE of the following three topics. Identify in your introduction which topic you have chosen. Write a cohesive essay, double-spaced, 750 words, addressing all of the issues referenced for that topic using specific material from the week’s readings. A “cohesive” essay means no bullet points or numbered answers; use paragraphs and transitions between your ideas. Cite properly all references from class materials (see video clips on proper citation linked under my picture on our course home page; using sources without citing is plagiarism and will earn a zero for the assignment!)
Topic choice #1: Discuss the rationale for taking a child away from a mother who was abusing drugs during pregnancy. Why is this done? Is taking the baby away immediately following birth in the best interests of the child? Present multiple perspectives on the issue, supporting your arguments for each with material from the reading. (Note: you will likely need to refer to material from chapters from past weeks as well.)
Topic choice #2: Why do the media and the public pay so much attention to physical and sexual maltreatment rather than neglect and psychological maltreatment when the latter two are much more common? What effects might this have on the identification of situations of neglect and psychological maltreatment and the ability of victims to get help? Provide evidence from the reading to support your arguments.
Topic choice #3: Does the reading suggest that witnessing interparental aggression is a form of psychological maltreatment? Why or why not? Present and discuss the evidence that leads you to draw your conclusion.

What are the implications of Titles I and Title IV for music education? Who is the individual responsible for Title I and Title IV for the LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT school included in your status report? In your own research examine the issues related to Title I and Title IV. Find one article and summarize it for your classmates as your original thread.
Write a position paper about government “Censorship: The First Amendment Encyclopedia.” Why it is ethically wrong for government to censor its citizens. Make a logical outline of your argument stating your position and the reasons you will develop in the paper in support of your position.
Option 1: Political scientists disagree on the exact causes of low representation of women in Congress. Why do you think there are so few women in Congress in comparison to men? How likely is it that these patterns of representation will dramatically change over your lifetime? For this discussion question, you will have to do some research online.
Accountants are responsible for ensuring alignment with various standards, including GAAP and IFRS, as well as satisfying the needs of various other users of financial statements (and potentially others, depending on the nature of the business they work for.) The article Reporting Accounting Changes and Their Multi-period Effects discusses why firms are not required to disclose information for years subsequent to a change, even when the impacts of the change span multiple years. Review the article and discuss the following, providing examples to support your ideas:
Should companies be expected to report the impact of changes expected in subsequent years, especially if they have multiperiod impacts? Why or why not?
Would multiperiod disclosure of accounting changes be useful to investors and other users? Why or why not?
I have attached the Article.
Write and submit a 2+ page paper (double-spaced using 12-point Times New Roman font) explaining what you have learned in the videos below (briefly summarize 4 videos) and what changes you can/will make in your personal finances that will help you. You should watch at least 4 of the videos and incorporate them in your writing.
Make sure to provide very brief summaries of the videos that were impactful to you but focus your paper on how you can make positive changes to the way you manage your money from what you learn in the videos.
Submit a Word or PDF file. If you use Pages or Google Docs make sure to export to a Word or PDF file before you submit (the system does NOT accept Pages documents and I do not want a link to a Google Doc).

Write a well-constructed essay in which you identify two characters in
“Fences,” determine what kind of conflict each has, and examine the way (s) in which each of
them finds a solution to his or her conflict.*
*Think about what conflicts or problems that the two characters you choose have. The conflict
can be within themselves or from outside difficulties.
– Who or what does each character fight against?
– Are your chosen characters fighting to find and maintain their identity, or fight to
earn some dignity and respect? In what way(s)?
– It is possible that a character never resolves his or her conflict. If not, why not? What
is stopping him or her from moving on beyond the conflict?
– Has an introductory paragraph that mentions the title and author of the text
(“Fences” by August Wilson) AND the two characters you’ve chosen and the
inner or outside conflicts they have.
– Has several body paragraphs that are organized in a way that describes and
explains your two chosen characters, what kind of conflict they have, and how
each character finds a solution to his or her conflict
– Has quotes from the play (the text) to support your analysis in your body
– Has a concluding paragraph that discusses the importance of moving on from
conflict in life. What must someone do to successfully move on from conflict in
his or her life?
The final project involves designing a new community intervention program appropriate for implementation within an organizational (e.g., school, clinic, NGO), system (e.g., school district, statewide community mental health) or community setting, for the purpose of addressing a key social issue of interest to you. Potential issues include but are not restricted to marginalization, oppression, discrimination, immigration, power, diversity, adaptation, or recovery. Proposed programs can be situated within domestic or global contexts. This is a program proposal for classwork only and you will not be directly contacting people who work in your community.
